Welcome to my KMS web page! I am very proud to be able to educate future generations of children in my own hometown. I was born, raised and now reside in Killingly with my husband and three young children. This fall marks my 13th year at Killingly Memorial School.
Please know that I feel parent communication with staff is one of the most important keys to success for all children. If you need to contact me, please feel free to contact the school, send a note in with his or her classroom teacher, or e-mail me with any celebrations or concerns you might have. Coming up:
During the month of December many third grade classrooms will be doing an author study with Patrica Polacco books. Students will be figuring out the theme of her books, as well as the author's message, and her style of writing/ illustrations (author's craft) with each individual book.
Reading at home:
When you are reading at home with your child, ask them a few simple questions, if the story has a character ( How is the character feeling? Why is the character feeling this way? What might the character do now to solve his/her problem?) and share with them what your thinking is as you are reading. Asking good questions, and making connections to the characters and text are excellent and simple ways for your child to continue to make reading progress.
