Welcome to Killingly Intermediate School

Dear Parents and Guardians:
The 2012-2013 school year is coming to a close.  We hope your child is having a successful year.  As we begin preparing for end-of-the-year assessments and planning for events, the days will go by fast.  Progress reports are expected to go home the week May 27th.
Each year, when spring arrives our young students find a new sense of energy and sometimes need redirection.  It is important that you continue to monitor your child’s progress on PowerSchool.  You have an opportunity to view your child’s grades and completed assignments on a daily basis.  Please contact our office if you need assistance accessing PowerSchool.
We are very fortunate to have our extra-curricular and sports programs fully funded this year.  Our athletic teams had a very successful full season, including the KIS Cheerleaders finishing first in three tournaments. Our boys’ basketball team made it to the finals for the second year in a row.  Also impressive are our active groups, such as, Student Council, National Junior Honor Society, Teen Leadership, Peer Mediators, Forgive and Forget, and many more.  These groups are successful due to the students’ hard work and the leadership from faculty, who work so hard to make their programs successful.
We have utilized more communication tools this year with Alert Now and the ability to access your child’s grades on PowerSchool.  We are now utilizing email more effectively and sending messages home to all families via email. Please be sure that we have your updated email address.  We are also experimenting with Twitter, please follow us at KIS News@SteveRioux1.
Enjoy the rest of the school year and your continued support in creating a positive culture is greatly appreciated!
