We have a rather basic discipline procedure. We expect students to do what they are told, when they are told to do it, and we expect them to respect themselves, their classmates, and the teachers/staff. Last year at the end of each term, we had a special pizza lunch and extra recess for all students who had had no more than three lunch detentions. This was our way of thanking the students and reinforcing their behaviors; we will continue to have different award celebrations each quarter this year.
Students are given homework on a daily basis, and if that homework is not turned in on time, they will be assigned a lunch detention. If your child needs extra help he/she can get this during lunch, skillblock, or after school if a meeting is set up with a teacher in advance and transportation can be provided for your student. In addition to extra help, your student(s) will be given the opportunity to re-take any failed tests and/or quizzes within two weeks of receiving their grade, however, this is their responsibility and we will not be chasing them to re-take things. If a student is absent it is their responsibility to see each of their teacher's and get the work that they missed. Teachers will not chase students to give them made up work.
