| Meet the K.M.S. Library Staff |
| The media center is staffed by Mrs. Carol Records, Media Specialist, Mrs. Ceci Charles, Technology Instructional Assistant, Mrs. Kristine Cicchetti, a.m. Library Assistant, and Mrs. Katie Britt, p.m. Library Assistant. She graduated from The University of Connecticut in 1986 with a degree in Elementary Education. In 1995, she graduated with distinction from Eastern Connecticut State University, receiving her Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education. After 19 years as a classroom teacher, Mrs. Records became certified as a Library Media Specialist in order to share her enthusiasm for children's literature with a larger audience. She has received numerous grants to enhance the education of her students including an Ezra Jack Keats Foundation Grant to provide field trips for first grade students in Killingly to apply for library cards at the public library. Mrs. Records received a Target Field Trip Grant to send Killingly fourth graders to the CT River Museum in Essex to view a model of the turtle submarine used in the Revolutionary War, after reading the CT Nutmeg Book Award nominated book, Attack of the Turtle. She also received a Bob's Furniture Grant to purchase $1,500 in biography and state books for the school library. Mrs. Records has been the recipient of numerous FOLK Fund Grants, which were all used to encourage a love of reading in her students. In 2010, she was selected as Literacy Person of the Year by the Eastern Connecticut Reading Council. Mrs. Records resides in Pomfret with her husband, son, and numerous pets. She is an avid reader, gardener, and cook. Her dream is to be published as a children's book author and see her own books in the library! If you are interested in becoming a K.M.S. Library volunteer, kindly contact Mrs. Records by e-mail at crecords@killinglyschools.org. |
